EU Entry/Exit System changes
From November 2024, the EU had planned to introduce a new digital border check called the Entry/Exit system (EES). It will affect British nationals travelling to a country in the Schengen area, which includes France.
However, the EU have announced they intend to delay the introduction of the new boarder checks and may now be phased in over time.
Maidstone Borough Council is part of the Kent and Medway Resilience Forum and is working with partners to ensure any disruption on the M20, the A20 and all the surrounding areas is a key consideration for the forum at all times.
